Fresh pictures

Last week we had a great family of 10 from California in the lodge. They enjoyed a lot of great fishing, a day trip to the Khutzeymateen Grizzly Bear Sanctuary with Greg Palmer http://www.palmerville.bc.ca , a helicopter sightseeing trip with Sid at White River Helicopters http://whiteriverhelicopters.ca , and most of all Molly's fine cuisine at the lodge!!

Wendy and her Dad John with a couple nice Steelhead taken on the last day of their trip! Wendy's first Steelhead with a two-handed-rod!

The following two pictures were taken today. My good friend Tom Danco and I always take a break at this time of year from the serious business of chasing Steelhead and Chinook to enjoy a week of fishing with the kids. Pinks and Chum salmon are by far the very best fish to get kids hooked on the pleasures of fishing. My daughter Olivia below has the fishing gene bad. She stares down that fly line, on each swing of the fly, with confident enthusiasm. It's a real joy to watch her cast a single handed rod at the age of nine.

Tom poses with a big Pink that his son John caught below. John also caught a big bad Chum, that dragged the seven and a half year old around the pool for twenty minutes! My son Owen (5) in the background cheered John on with every fish he had on.

If you have a youth in your life, and you have the time, take them fishing for Pinks and Chum. It just maybe the beginning of a wonderful journey into the sport of fly fishing, that will fill their lives with decades of outdoor enjoyment and memories.
