Week one of the 2012 season

We just finished the first week of the 2012 season @ Spey Lodge. Geoff from Australia was the star of last week with a few nice fish taken. The week was unusually sunny and calm for us here in what we now refer to as the WETcoast of British Columbia. The sun was a nice treat but the clear skies gave us cold nights that slowed the melting snow, and kept the water levels very low. The spring runoff (late May-early June) will be epic this year, especially if we continue to experience cold nights.

This past winter I had the canvas extended on
the big jet boat to provide more comfort on the
long journey down the channel.

Geoff hard at work above and below.

This poor Steelhead must be still traumatized after seeing these two scary guys!

We had Geoff down the Channel for a couple days last week, unfortunately there was many more mountain goats and Char than Steelhead.

This massive Steelhead below was one we found in the late winter while testing the The 7115-4c CF Burkheimer. This little rod (7wt 11'5") did a great job with this beast of a fish.

Until next time,
